TOSHIAKI YOSHIDA BIOGRAPHY

Toshiaki Yoshida received his MSc in Social Research from the University of Edinburgh, UK and a BA in Commerce from Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan.

The Great Northeast Japan (Tohoku) earthquake, tsunami, and Fukushima nuclear meltdown occurred immediately after his high school graduation. Since then, he developed research interests on the past and future of Japan’s nuclear power plant policies and communities those had involved with them. His 3 article-style doctoral dissertation deals with 1) what factors strengthened the local anti-nuclear power plant movements during 1960s to 1990s 2) How investment in physical infrastructure boost the recovery after 12 years since the Tohoku earthquake 3) How reconstruction investment is distributed across the municipalities.
